Quiet Weekend

It was a quiet weekend, which allowed for some time to create in the studio...with the space heater on HIGH, as it was also a cold and snowy weekend. I now have four new collages listed on ebay. The one above makes me think of "vintage Hollywood." It must have been a wonderful place back in the 30's, 40's and 50's. There was a touch of class that seems so lacking now. I also think about what old New York must have been like, with the clubs that had floor shows and orchestras...the likes of Ricky Ricardo crooning at the Tropicana. The clubs in New York today? No, thanks.

Ahhhh.....I guess I'm just a vintage girl.

Oh I have to agree with you. I am in love with the 1040's.
The fashion, the hair, everything seemed so classy!

Your art always touches on that by gone era.

Hi Nancy...

wonderful piece...always nice to have a quiet weekend working on great projects....

I love that whole vintage Hollywood stuff...I love watching all those old movies where everyone was always so dressy and so classy...you're so right about the whole class thing and imagine how cool old NEw York was...the dresses, the parties...I can imagine it in my mind...

Great work...and thanks for the flashback and the inspiration ...

Cheers,
Diana

Beautiful :) Your collages have such a soft feel to them and that makes the girl pop...very cool. :)

I agree with you...that was my grandmother's time and she was the ultimate lady. She died on Christmas day 1996...wore pantyhose, jewelry, and lipstick until the very end!

There is a place around here that is called Johnny Uptowns and on Wednesday...it is supposed to be just like the old days...with the orchestra and everything. I NEED to go! :)

P.S. There is also a place where everyone dresses like a monk and you pick your own meat and barbeque it in their garden! That is Arizona for you! :)

Very vintage indeed. This piece is wonderful on so many levels. I love the combination of tone, texture and lettering. The B&W movies of the 40s are so much fun to enjoy over and over. The clothes, the plots, the hairstyles and the difference in the role of women in that time. We have truly come a long way from fox fur stoles, silk stockings, and marcel waves.
