Illustration Friday ~ PERSPECTIVE

This week at Illustration Friday the prompt is PERSPECTIVE. I do believe this little lady has an interesting perspective on life.

When I read this quote, I just knew it was a collage in the making. It was just too good to resist. I played in my studio making this small collage, as I watched the snow pile up outside, adding the punch of color I've been needing to get me through the last weeks of winter.

I know I will revisit this quote for another collage sometime soon. It's just too good to resist.

"Mix It Up with Melange" Challenge ~ MIRROR

This week's challenge over at the Melange Team Blog is MIRROR. Mirrors are often our own worst enemy. That made me think of something none of us, even Marge, enjoy seeing in the MIRROR...cellulite.

"Unfortunately, Marge realized the cellulite hadn't vanished overnight."

That reminds me...swimsuit season is coming.

Had Enough Yet?

Is it any wonder that I am journaling about the promises of Spring, when I look out my window at the 15+ inches of snow that has fallen, and is still falling! I have reached my limit, as I usually do at this time of year. So, anytime you're ready, Mother Nature, bring on the Spring!

Luscious Color

I am having such fun playing in my journal with the Inktense pencils. The colors are incredibly rich and seem to get even more so when water is applied.

Now, if only the colors outside matched the vibrancy of those in my pencil case, I'd be all set. Are you anxious for Spring, too?

Inktense!

I had been wanting these pencils for a while now...Inktense by Derwent...a wonderfully rich watercolor pencil, so I had heard.

So with coupon in hand I marched off to Michael's and came home with the set of 12. Ideally, I would have wanted at least the set of 24, but sets of 12 were all that the store had. I decided that I could live without the 12 additional colors (10 really, if you don't count white or the outliner) and I could supplement my supply of colors, singly, through Dick Blick. Hence, I was a happy camper.

Permitting myself a little down time today, I experimented in my journal with the Inktense pencils, and yes, they are rich and vibrant and oh, so much fun. The zinnias in the journal page above are much more vibrant than had they been rendered with traditional watercolor pencils.

I predict a Dick Blick order in the not too distant future.

Glorious Gift

In the midst of a snowstorm yesterday, a jewel arrived in my mailbox!

It was my tremendous good fortune to win a blog giveaway offered by Sherry Ball Schoenfeldt. The giveaway was for a pendant, but not just any pendant; a pendant designed expressly for me and of my choosing in theme and color. Can you imagine?

Sherry created this most stunning pendant that captures all of the elements I mentioned to her: acid green, silver and art. And how about the fork...how cool is that?

Sherry went above and beyond to make something truly special and one-of-a-kind. I will wear this proudly and with a great deal of gratitude to Sherry and this wonderful online art world that allows people from distant shores to connect.

Please take the opportunity to visit Sherry's website, Studio Pashnada, to see all of her exceptional work.

Thank you Sherry, from the bottom of my heart.

Do You Tweet?

Follow mycollageart on Twitter

Well, I can't say that I'm the first to jump on the technology bandwagon. No, I get dragged on kicking and screaming. But here I am announcing my Twitter page...do you even call it a "page?" I'm not sure. All I know is it's one more computer thing that I need to learn.

So here I am:

Mixed Media Art Group

Visit Mixed Media Art

The internet is full of wonderful groups for artists to join. I have made many "online friends" who share my love of mixed media art. It helps to know that there are others "out there" who are creating art as I am and who, like myself, may not have any local friends who share the enthusiasm. Well, in the online art groups to which I belong, there is no shortage of enthusiasm!

Just recently I joined the Ning group, "Mixed Media Art," and right away felt welcomed. I would encourage anyone interested in this art form to take a peek at their site.

Mind Wide Open Challenge & "Mix It Up with Melange" Challenge ~ LOVE LETTERS

Most busy moms need to multi-task, right? Well, this one does for sure, so I have created one piece of art to satisfy two challenges.

Using the beautiful image of this young lady, from Gail at Mind Wide Open, I have created a journal page inspired by the LOVE LETTERS prompt from the Melange Blog Challenge.

"she remembered his love letters stored in a box
holding their love and their future"

Do you have a box of love letters? I do.

Come on over and join in on these two wonderful challenges...you're sure to have fun!

Mixed Media Monday ~ ROMANCE

This week's challenge offered by Mixed Media Monday is ROMANCE, in honor of Valentine's Day.

Shortly after this prompt was posted, I came across this quote and it made me chuckle. "If love is blind why is lingerie so popular?" With many gals receiving ROMANTIC lingerie for Valentine's Day, I thought this collage would be appropriate for the challenge.

I encourage you to visit the Mixed Media Monday blog and view the wonderful creations inspired by this prompt.
