Illustration Friday ~ Tales and Legends

I really came up short on today's topic for Illustration Friday. Without the time today to head to the studio to whip up something new, I dug down deep to one of my much earlier works. A few years ago I was new to the world of collage and hadn't quite found my style nor the materials I now enjoy using in my artwork. Frequent visitors to my blog or website may notice in this collage the complete absence of paint, distress inks or fluid chalk inks...items I cannot live without today! Isn't it funny how we evolve into the artist we were meant to be? Anyway, with all that aside, here is my entry, good or bad, and here's a wish to all the wonderful bloggers who support and encourage me..."May you always have a fairy godmother looking out for you!"

Hi Nancy! You know, i thoguht when Isaw this that it looked a little "different" from your usual collage work. But...I REALLY like it actually! I like the butterfly wings, and it seems fresh to me. Yes, it is different, but it is still your work. : )

Nancy - I agree with Kate, and I also like it. It's a bit more "naive" in it's design, but still delightful.

Great work as usual and nice take on the topic.

oh, i think this is very sweet, and the contrast between the girl (also her size) and the wings is wonderful! it's always good to look back to see how your style has developed

It is still a beautiful piece even if you evolved as an artist since you created it. I am continually still changing as an artist too and the work I posted today is only a few weeks old but I can see the faults and how I have improved since I painted them!

I love your collage work, even this "older " piece has a strong sense of design. I do some illustration work for a rubber stamp company, (A Muse) so I'm in touch with the paper crafting business. Thanks for your nice comment on my IF entry.

So lovely! I can see that you've evolved, but you did it from such a terrific place! You may have been new to collage, but you certainly had a knack for it from the start. Just love your stuff.
