Christmas Wish

In addition to Santa Claus and Fairy Godmothers, you can add Power Company Linemen to the list of those who make wishes come true.

After a devastating ice storm hit New Hampshire last Thursday night, power company workers from all across the country came to help restore power to those 424,000 homes affected by the outages.

At our house we spent eight long days hooked up to generator power and, although better off than many, it was a very trying time. When the power truck made its way to our street today there was great rejoicing!

Shortly after our power was restored, Mother Nature thought a snowstorm was in order. As I write this a gentle snow continues to fall. When all is said and done, ten inches of new snow will blanket the ground. I think of those workers who continue to labor over the fallen lines, many of whom will be far from home on Christmas Day and still working for our benefit. I think of those who are still without power in their homes and may not have that restored until after the new year. New Hampshire and parts of Massachusetts have never seen such devastation. If you can say a quiet prayer for those still in need, it will be greatly appreciated.

May all of YOUR Christmas wishes come true.

Hallelujah, power has been revived!!!
Nancy, I have been thinking about you and your family and even talking about you to my family. And I am soooo thrilled for you all.
I remember last year we were without power for a week and I was just getting more depressed by the day, and I neverrrrr get depressed but it was soooo difficult.
Made me start to think about what needs to be done in case it happens again.
And yes, my heart and prayers go out for those trusty workers!
Now, your Christmas celebration is going to be double happy!
blessings,
starrydeborah

Nancy, so glad your power was restored in time for the holiday and for you to get some things done you haven't been able to. What a blessing those men are that volunteered from near and far to help.

You've been missed and were thought of often!

Have a big tall glass of holiday cheer with your friends this weekend!!

I know what you mean about the linemen and workers, being from La. I know the excitement in seeing those trucks appear. I am so happy to hear your power is restored in time for the holidays. Your so kind to remember the workers, I couldn't agree more, they are heros!

Your collage is touching and beautiful.

I am so glad you have power, especially with Christmas coming and the kids at home.

We are in Day "9" without power and the road to our home is now so bad we are staying put for another couple of days. Our little generator is keeping the heat on and one or two appliances going.... right now it is the computer that is online.

I wish you and your family the very best, and will of course keep those crews working so hard and so far from their families in my thoughts and prayers.

We measured 12 inches and the snow is still falling over here on our side of the town. We did see trucks with telephone poles heading way down the road, hopefully that is a good sign.

Someone at the little market in town said that they were told they wouldn't have power until maybe the second week of January. I hope that is just a random comment.

Heres to fairy godmothers and magic castles.!

Oh we have been thinking of all of you since this happened. We lost our power during Ike and had no troubles other than inconvenience...i can't imagine how to survive up north in those conditions! Yikes...

praise be to those who restore power! we lost power this last fall when the big winds of hurricane ike blew thru ohio. being without power made me feel very humbled by the life and luxuries that we so easily take for granted. we did together those nights instead of just watching tv or playing on the internet -- we took long walks, visited with neighbors, played rummikub and had a fire in the firepit on the back patio. for us, it was a time to reflect on how lucky we are!
