Illustration Friday ~ Horizon

This Christmas season, I am feeling especially homesick for my roots...New York, that is. I wish that it were right over the HORIZON and I could be immersed in all that is New York at Christmastime. But alas, it is much farther away than that and I suppose I'll have to settle for watching Christmas movies set in New York. Maybe tonight it will be 'Serendipity'...a little skating in Central Park, dessert in a quaint cafe, shopping at Bloomingdale's...sounds lovely.

Love the baskets with the presents in brown paper! I only visited New York twice for a few days, but I think I can imagine how exciting it must be around Christmas.

Just lovely! I remember shopping with my Dad in Bloomies and Macy's at Christmas time. My first pair of Ice Skates.... my first ski sweater were all treats from shopping with him.

I miss the city this time of year, but will settle for the glorious beauty around us here in northern New England.

I love the "outfit" complete with baskets of cheer and the festive hat and wings...Oh yeah, there are those stockings!

Great job!

Hi Nancy...love your piece this week...and I love New York too...it is the best place to be even for a few days during the Holidays....they sure know how to make the most of this season there....and one of my fondest memories was at Rockefeller Center...taking a break from skating to enjoy a nice hot salty pretzel from a street vendor...with so many wonderful lights....oh thanks for taking me back to that memory...

and thanks for popping by to see my work this week...

Hope you have a Magical Holiday Season!!!

Cheers,
Diana

Great piece! Hey, I have NYC roots too. I visited last week and gawked a bit at the lights and shop windows...gorgeous as ever. Smells good to me too, the sweet perfume of roasting chestnuts and taxi exhaust!

I've never been to New York but in movies it does seem quite magical during Christmas. Lovely collage.

You had me at "Woolworths." I could cry, I miss it so much! I grew up in Boston and Woolworths and kresges were my favorite place to get paper dolls and coloring books. I sure as hell don't miss city life, but I do miss a good coloring book and a walk down those aisles with my Grandmother. Thanks for the memories!

Love all your little angel girls! This little gal does look a bit wistful.

I was in New York many years ago, and although it wasn't during the holidays, I will never forget the energy there. It's like no other place on earth. I can only imagine, between that experience and all the classic movies I've seen, how wonderful it must be during this time of the year. Thanks for sharing that little piece of magic.
