Illustration Friday ~ Grow

The image here was not the first that came to mind for the topic "grow." I naturally thought of a little garden fairy with her basket brimming with posies. But as I thought about growth, I thought of the most profound growth that happens around me and that is of my children. They grow with astounding speed...how is it possible that my youngest is not far from finishing elementary school and my oldest not far from starting college? I hope that their childhood was (and is) a beautiful and wonderful place. And I wish I could go back and watch them grow all over again. Excuse me while I dry my tears...

it is amazing watching them grow, isn't it?

Like the colors on this--kinda peaceful and calm...

Equally true for me. Your treatment of this collage is wonderful. I love all the details and the incremental dates wandering down, or forward, as the case may, on the left.

i always love to come and look at your work each week. this brought tears to my eyes too, as i feel the same about my children - teenagers now and it is going by so fast.

Aw that is such a lovely idea. I remember watching my little sister grow up, not quite the same as having my own children, I imagine that there is nothing quite like that experience.
I so love your work and the colours you use, so subtle yet striking and beautiful.
It's always a pleasure to see your newest entries for Illustration Friday.

It's going by far too fast, I agree. It seems like we just brought our first home yesterday. Now kindergarten is right around the corner :(

What a sweet story. Unfortunately, I keep thinking the same thing as my 3-yr. old goes off to daycare every morning. Lovely piece!
