It's Play Time!
What does one do for fun while the boys play with their new Christmas loot and the snow piles up outside? Well, journal, of course.
Gathering up my journaling supplies: watercolor pencils, markers, collage elements, glue stick and Moleskine journal, I was ready to settle down by the fire. The falling snow and the sheer beauty of winter (and knowing that I wasn't the one who'd be shoveling) was all the inspiration I needed.
The snow has been falling for days and, with nowhere to go, I have enjoyed a great deal of journaling time. Today the aroma of a roast in the crock-pot and the sight of boys playing in the snow was the calm that my muse needed to create page after page.
In addition to my watercolor pencils, I played around with my Caran d'Ache water soluble crayons and water soluble oil pastels for a bit of bold color.
Gee, winter can be fun after all, even for those who prefer the fireside to Jack Frost nipping at your nose.

These are wonderful. I especially love the one about letting your spirit soar. OOOOh, that was good. Beautiful art Nancy.
Great pages Nancy! Very inspiring and makes me feel warm, like your fire!

I just love your work! I love the digging in your roots but letting your spirit soar! Yesterday we were hanging out at the book store and I surrounded myself with the Somerset magazines as always and saw your piece in Art Journaling and was SO inspired! I was always intimidated by the messiness of paints and inks for backgrounds as I have only a tiny place to work. I had never thought of watercolor pencils/crayons to work with for backgrounds. I can't wait to get some and try it out! Thanks so much for the inspiration and looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!
Nancy--I love your journal style! Your pages turned out wonderfully. I love the vision of taking your journal and supplies, cozy up and immerse in an evening of art. Very nourishing!
These pages are lovely! It's been cold here in MS too but no snow. I sure was glad to get home from work early afternoon and know that I would not have to go back outside though. Best feeling this time of year is being warm and safe. Have a warm and art-filled weekend!
What wonderful pages, Nancy... as wonderful as the image of you snuggled by the fire creating them. Thanks so much for sharing.
everything is so pretty and magical.
the snowman is adorable as ever.
How fun & playful! Great pages
Love love loving these journal pages Nancy!!
I LOVE these. I'm so inspired to start journaling. Love the quote about creating a home that my children want to return to. So sweet. So true.
It's been enjoyable this year to watch your art evolve with more and more journaling and drawing...isn't that the great thing about art...we just keep evolving (hopefully)
Girl, you have taken this journaling and ran!!!!!!! You are fabulous with this as well as collage. Good for you, it just does not feel comfortable for me...Maybe someday, I love the white backgrounds on the winter pages, beautiful.
