Theme Thursday ~ FLOURISH!

This week at the challenge group, Theme Thursday, the prompt is FLOURISH.

Whenever I want to add a bit of FLOURISH to a background, my "go-to" stamp is the one I have used in this collage. "Wrought Scroll" by Christine Adolph is in her Garden Melange stamp line by Stampington, Inc. I use this stamp in many collage backgrounds as well as in my art journals.

Pop on over to Theme Thursday and check out the many talented artists and the way they've interpreted FLOURISH!

Collage available in my Etsy shop.

Theme Thursday ~ CRAZY

This week is my first venture into the challenge group, Theme Thursday. It's always fun to find a new weekly challenge and new artists' blogs via the group.

This week's challenge, CRAZY, brought to mind this vintage image which I have used in mixed media collage work in the past. Now, I'm not sayin' she's CRAZY, but that's one CRAZY hat!

Collage available in my Etsy shop. **SOLD**

At the Market

Red peppers...fresh...roasted...delicious; the inspiration for my latest class sample in preparation for the workshop I will teach at "Art Is...You: The East Coast Art Retreat." Here's a close up view of the texture and design that form a lush background on the canvas. Join me in October 2011 for "Mixed Media Farmer's Market." Until then, this one will hang in my kitchen.

Pretty Posies

When I saw a card of six fabric flowers at Michaels, I immediately knew what I could make. Although they were grouped with the scrap-booking supplies, I had other ideas. With the addition of some tulle and ribbon, I think they make sweet brooches, don't you?

Collections: Part Two

On a day that is overcome by WHITE, as the snowstorm rages on, I thought a light and colorful post was in order. So, without further adieu, I give you another peek at my collections. (You can see Part One here.)

My vintage apron collection shares space in the kitchen with some beautiful art from Lisa Kaus and Kelly Rae Roberts. This collection is more for show than use. My everyday apron gets the hard duty.

I love vintage clocks and this trio, including a Bakelite electric model, share the table with a vintage McCoy lamp.

Beautiful painted trays from the 1940's and '50's grace the wall of our family room. Thank you Ebay.

Of course, no artist's home would be complete without artwork from adored artists. Beauties by Mindy Lacefield and Kelly Rae Roberts (above) brighten my kitchen, while the artwork by Pam Carriker and Renee Thompson (below) graces the hall.

Thanks for stopping by on this cold and snowy day and do tell me what you collect.
