Arty Girlz Challenge ~ Butterflies

Better late than never, here is my submission for the Arty Girlz Challenge this week. I had the idea from the moment I saw the topic...finding the time to create was another story. While working on this collage all I could think of was my youngest son and his affection for caterpillars, Monarchs in particular. As much as he loves to raise them and watch the metamorphosis from caterpillar to butterfly, he is always so sad to say goodbye to his caterpillars. Sometimes change is hard to accept in any form.

This collage is available in my Etsy shop.

A New Favorite

I have completed a collage on what is sure to become my new favorite substrate. The 6 x 6 x 1.5" premier gallery profile canvas...I love it. I don't know if it's the size or the chunky feel to it, but I do know that I will be ordering more!

The first of many collages on this type of canvas is entitled, "create." and is available in my my Etsy shop.

Victorian Bushfire Appeal

I am proud to take part, along with many other artists, in the fund raising efforts for relief for the Australian Fire Victims. Metsy team member Stacey Merrill coordinated the efforts of many Metsy artists to create houses to sell on Etsy for the cause. My donation is pictured here and, for me, represents that heart and home are ONE.

For a wonderful assortment of creative works (and free shipping) please visit the Etsy shop for Fire Relief. Purchasing handcrafted works of art and helping in a worthwhile's a win-win situation.

Workshop Sneak Peek

I have been woefully remiss in keeping up with my blog. I offer my apologies to all those who visit only to see the same stale image from last week.

All of my creative energy has gone toward preparing for my upcoming workshop. There is already quite a bit accomplished and yet still much to be done. It is an exciting process and I want the finished product to be the best it can be.

If you are looking for something to whisk away the winter doldrums, come join us at Creative Workshops. If you are interested in something other than my Mixed Media/Collage Backgrounds Workshop, there are two great classes offered by Pam Carriker in March and April, as well as a class in digital collage by Gail Schmidt.

Come and join us...there's something for everyone!

Illustration Friday ~ Time

How fitting that the Illustration Friday prompt is something that I covet so deeply, it appears in my new art journal. Yes, that elusive thing called TIME. I just never have enough hours in the day to accomplish all I would like to get done. Time, or the lack thereof, makes a few appearances in my journal...amazing that I had any TIME to get that journaling done. If not for the wonderful class by Pam Carriker over at Creative Workshops, I never would have taken the TIME to indulge in this joy known as art journaling. Yes, it is very important that in the midst of our busy lives we make TIME for ourselves and the activities that we enjoy.

Journal Pages

With a sick child to care for this week, it was awfully nice to have some "portable artwork," in the form of my journal, to work on. On some of the pages I wrote favorite quotes; on other pages I just wrote random thoughts, phrases or words. Being new to art journaling it is a bit difficult to come up with "something to say," but it is all a learning process...and one that I am enjoying immensely. Thank you, Pam.
